Health & Safety Considerations

Throughout the production of our short Thriller, we will need to take some health and safety precautions into consideration. Due to the indoor setting of the house for the majority of the film, we are fortunate that there aren't too many risks.

There will be a scene where a glass is being smashed onto the floor which creates the risk of a shard hitting someone. To prevent anyone from being hurt, we will all stand well back from the glass and ensure that it is swept up properly afterwards.

Certain scenes will feature the boy appearing to cause harm to himself, but we will ensure that he will not be hurt in the process. When banging his head against the door in the film, certain camera techniques and post production effects will make him appear to be seriously injuring himself, whilst in reality he will be standing a safe distance from the door to prevent any head injuries.

One setting where we must be particularly careful is on the road where our actors will be standing. We have chosen a very quiet rural road where cars won't often drive past, and one which is straight enough to see a good distance along it. We will have crew members on both sides of the shoot to check that there aren't any cars coming when filming, and that we move promptly out of the way when one does come.
